Karen Spurney

Karen Spurney is the brainchild behind Notebusters. Karen has 20+ years of piano teaching experience and holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Southern California in piano performance. Karen is also a credentialed California teacher.

Karen created Notebusters as a way to increase her beginning to intermediate students’ sight-reading skills. Her goal was straightforward and timed exercises that encourage self-improvement. She designed exercises for Notebusters to be fun, simple, and quick, so kids of all ages (and attention spans) could benefit.

After years of success using Notebusters with her students, Karen decided to publish the workbook so that other music teachers and parents could benefit from her methods.
